AgroTrain: Digital Skills for New-age Agriculture
Enhancing productivity, sustainability, and innovation of the agricultural sector by integrating digital skills through AgroTrain centres in Ghana, co-funded by the European Union
Establishing 2 AgroTrain centres as centres of excellence for training, material development, networking, and agribusiness incubation.
About AgroTrain
The aim of AgroTrain is to enhance the productivity, sustainability, and innovation of the agricultural sector by integrating digital skills in Ghana's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system.
By defining future skills needed for TVET graduates in the digital era and aligning such skills to the unique local Ghanaian Context, the project will help transform technical education across the region.
Project Objectives
- Establish a network and exchange of good practices (start with 6 partners as a baseline and will be expanded to over 50 partners during project execution)
- TVET system requirements analysis in GH in the Agri-Food sector
- Establish 2 Innovative AgroTrain centres in GH university partners to conduct training and vocational courses
- Design and develop six vocational courses, including eLearning materials, focused on innovative agri-food technologies
- Deliver two courses (both in-person and online) from the six developed courses for students, staff, and professionals

Kick-off Meeting

The kick-off meeting of the project was held in Leipzig, Germany between January 09 - 10, 2026. The kick-off meeting was attended by 10 representatives from the partner institutions. The meeting was used to officially commence the AgroTrain project.

Second Management Meeting

The Second Management Meeting of the AgroTrain project was held in Hengelo, The Netherlands. This was organized alongside the first training of trainers session programme in Hengelo. The project consortium members represented by their respective local coordinators participated in the Management meeting to chart a new course for the project implementation.

First Staff Development Training in The Netherlands
2026-07-20
The first staff development training programme was completed in Hengelo, The Netherlands. The training brought together 26 Ghanaian stakeholders drawn from the three(3) Ghanaian partner institutions. Thus, AAMUSTED, KNUST, and Agrigrowth. The training sessions were held from July 20 - 24, 2026. The training was spearheaded AgriWatch BV, and supported by all consortium members of the AgroTrain project. The organization of the entire programme was carefully executed by Dr. Ali Abkar. The sessions were facilitated by Prof. Emeritus Nanno Mulder.
